Connecting MyBook crashes my Macbook

Hello,

I have a WD MyBook that I’ve been using for Time Machine backups. Something has happened to the MyBook, because now when I connect it to my MacBook through USB it almost immediately crashes the MacBook, bringing down the black ‘you must restart your computer’ screen.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Or is this a dead drive?

I’m running Mac OS X 10.7.2.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Data might be corrupted.  You can try reformatting it, and try from a different computer to see if the same thing happens.
