Can't see My Passport in Windows 7

So I’ve been going through the forum and I see that this is a surprisingly common problem. I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 Pro 64 and I tried running My Passport 750gb and it detected it, it made the sound, it downloaded the drivers successfully and I was able to see it through Control Panel, however, it does not appear under Computer and although it appears under Drive Management it does not have a letter assigned to it and thus I cannot navigate it.

Now I see that the answer commonly given to this problem is a reformat and I guess I will have to do that but I do have one question I’d like to ask before: I was able to view and navigate this drive previously on a Macbook Pro with Windows 7 Ultimate, why wouldn’t I be able to do the same on my new pc?

If the drive was formatted on a Mac it will not be visable in Windows. Something like HFS Explorer http://www.catacombae.org/hfsx.html  might work to get data off it. I don’t know much about Macs but it sounds like  you had Windows 7 was running in a virtual environment on the Mac.  If you are not going to use it on a Mac anymore simply reformat it NTFS for Windows.
