Cannot Get Customer Service to Reply to My RMA Request

UPDATE JUNE 22/24:

I don’t know if it was a result of this post, but several hours after I made this post, I was contacted with a return authorization number and information as to where to ship it for warranty replacement.

They do say to return it in the original packaging (or similar; I’m going with similar as I don’t have the original as I’ve had it for 2 years now) with the original cable(s) and power cords (which I have), manual (which I may not have). They say they will refuse to honour the warranty unless these conditions are met.

I hope my packaging will be sufficient - I’ll be using recycled Amazon packaging in an Amazon box of approximately the same size as the original WD box. Fingers crossed. Shipping to Mississauga (Toronto) is at my cost (I notice that if I lived in the US, WD would pay the return shipping cost), so I will take it to the post office this morning and get tracking.

I’m sure this will cost me nearly $30 as our postal rates are ridiculous, but Canada Post is in the verge of going bankrupt, so what can you do? It’s still cheaper than a new drive.

Original Post
I have an 8T WD My Book external HDD that I use on Windows 11. It is still under warranty and I had a computer store look at it and they said that it had several corrupt sectors and needed to be replaced. They wrote this on the invoice that included other work on my p.c.

I uploaded this invoice as well as my request for an RMA number to the RMA portal on June 16, 2024. The reference number is: 240617-000488. I just need someone to contact me with an RMA number, and instructions as to where to send the broken drive. I am not getting a response and I have been checking my spam folder on a daily basis.

I’m not sure what else to do now as I need a replacement asap! I copied all the data off the bad drive onto a drive I borrowed from my brother, but he needs it back as he uses it for his work.

What can I do to generate a response from WD for this issue?
