Can I Use Two My Passports for the Same Computer?

Hi There! Wondering if anyone has any insight? I have two WD My Passports for Mac. One is a 2TB and the other is a 4TB. I have owned and used the 2TB My Passport for over 2 years, and I just bought the 4TB last month. I bought the 4TB so I would have a backup hard drive in case any damage ever occurred to the 2TB.

However, when I went to complete my first backup to the 4TB Passport from my Mac computer, I received a message stating that the My Passport was not recognized.

Will I be able to use both My Passports with the same Mac laptop? Or will the system only allow me to use one WD external hard drive per computer?

You can use as many as you want as long as your computer has enough port. If you are using the TimeMachineBackup to backup your data. There is an option you can set it to use two drive at the same time to backup the data. But the backup will rotate to each disk. It is better to name your disk differently…like “Backup1 and Backup2”. Don’t use the same name for both disk as it will get confuse. You can read more about Mac backup from here. Just select your OSX version

and enough power
