Please help! I have a MyBook for Mac and has been working great until yesterday when I was re-connecting it and saw the dreaded blinking light. I’ve tried running Disk Utility but it doesn’t show up as a drive, not even in Finder. I connected it to my work computer (Windows-based) just to see if the blinking lights would stop and it did – it was steady like normal. The drive spins up and doesn’t make any crazy noises.
I tried disconnecting/re-connecting and restarting…just short of putting it in the freezer.
I’m not computer-savvy and don’t know all the terms, but this drive has a smooth, solid face with a single LED. I’m using it on a mid-2011, 2.5ghz Intel i5 processor, with 12gb DDR3 memory. This drive is not only my TimeMachine, but has all my family photos on it.
Please help!
UPDATE
Finally, after several hours of waiting, Disk Utility finally shows the MyBook and the light is on steadily. I do get this warning now:
Any ideas?
NEW UPDATE
After letting Disk Utility spin and find the My Book drive, it finally found it. It took several hours to do for some reason, but once it did, I ran First Aid which didn’t have anything to fix. I was, however, able to transfer my files off the My Book and onto my Mac, reformat the My Book, and now it works again.
