Backup doesnt work

I bought a My Passport Essential, installed WD SmartDrive and updated it to version 1.6.2

For some reason, the backup tab and the retrieve tab are both greyed out.

I searched in the forum, and several people wrote to just click the “my passport” icon in the home tab.

I did it and nothing happened. Besides an informationbox popping up if Ipass the icon with my cursor theres no reaction of the software. Im even unable to click the icon and nothing changes in the interface if iI try to do so…

Check if the drive is recognized by the computer

make sure the drive is not locked

click again on the icon on the home tab

It is recognized and it´s not locked…

What firmware version do you have?

If not the latest make sure to update the firmware
