I’m using WD My Book 3TB storage together with WD backup software. Now my disk is full. Are the disk supposed to clean old copies and replace them with new stuff?
Hi Dominic_Plaza,
WD Backup does not overwrite the old backup it just add the new backup whenever the backup has been created.
You have to manually delete the old backup in order to clean the drive.
I followed the on-screen instructions by clicking on Delete Files (to clear space for future back-ups). A window popped up showing Deleting Files, but this continued for over 5 HOURS!
Knowing that it would not take that long to simply delete some back-up files, I closed that “deleting” window and noticed that the main WD Backup window now said Preparing Backup (with the spinning circle), which also went on for several hours. Something is not working properly, and I’m still getting the message that files cannot backup because the external drive is full. Help!
Hi mrbmeyer,
Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this.

Sounds simple, but how do I do that??
