Acronis TI didn't create bootable drive

I’m on Windows 8 and need to upgrade my main (boot) HD.   The old drive is IDE.  I installed a new WD10EZEX on SATA, and used WD Acronise True Image to clone the old drive to the new.  The resulting drive/partition isn’t bootable.   Windows Disk Management shows its status as “Active, Primary Partitiion”, but not “Boot”.

I tried removing the old drive, and directed BIOS to boot from the new drive, but it failed with a message of “required device is missing”

How do I make the new drive/partition bootable?

Hello,

If you select the option to clone the source disk, you should be able to boot from the new drive.

Are you able to try that again?

Check page 84 of the user manual

Yes I did a ‘clone’.

Eventually I was able to make it bootable by running the ‘repair’ option from the Win8 installation disc.
