New My Book is shown “offline” or “read only” or “unable to backup files” in various places. Disc Management shows My Book (E) 3725.90 GB NTFS as “healthy” and passes various S.M.A.R.T. tests.
UPDATE: Thanks to Danno O. of Western Digital Service & Support staff suggesting I download the Acronis True Image backup software, My Book is working now.
Logan: Thanks for your info. I was able to pretty much solve the My Book problem by downloading Acronis True Image software. Note that I have My Book and not My Book Live. WD makes or has made so many variations. I am surprised that WD doesn’t support my new My Book and I had to go to Acronis to make it work.
