I’ve had a small (mono) portable speaker I got from Kmart a couple of years ago. Recent problems have me looking for a new solution. Saw the Kensington unit on Amazon and this is very similar to the unit I have. I’d like a halfway-decent sound quality but it’s just for sitting around the campfire or on a beach blanket so it’s all relative. Under $40 would be the best price point and small size is important (small enough to stuff in a sweatshirt pocket). Doesn’t need to be stereo. Probably 2 or 3 AAA batteries. Any direct experience?
My daughters love thelittle Tweakers, rechargeable and very small. The Altec Lansing Orbit is nice too.

I have sampled many mini speakers. I got these for under 5 bucks and they work great! It runs on 4 AAA batteries, which I have plenty of rechargables for other things, you might not like that
I also have these x-mini’s.
I got a third one that was also a zippered case. It didn’t sound as good as the above two. I am planning on getting spares of the cheap one.
