Just purchased an Ultra II 4.0 that does not work in my 1 year old DELL XPS 410 with multiple card reader interfaces. Also the Ultra does not work with the supplied SDDR-113 card reader in this desktop but it does work in 2 older laptop computers through the USB port connection. Dell tech support cannot confirm I have or don't have an SDHC device! I don't see any product info or downloads for the SDDR-113 or card to help me troubleshoot the compatibility problem. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have exactly the same problem with my 2006 Dell with this card reader (integral, came with the PC fitted by Dell): http://www.nextag.co.uk/Dell-19-in-1-1505860657/uk/prices-html
I also have a Sandisk Ultra II 4GB. Works fine on my small Asus EEE PC and in my Canon camera.
I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3 and I keep patches up-to-date.

I've managed to fix this problem by upgrading the firmware and drivers for the TEAC CA200 card reader that's fitted to my Dell PC. The card is now reading fine.
Here's a link to the firmware that I used. The v8 A03 didn't work for me, so I'm using the v8 A01 which is a couple of weeks older.
You'll also need the Driver:
Just to complicate things, I'm running Windows 7. I used Vista SP2 compatability mode to install the driver, otherwise it complained that "this driver is only designed for use with XP and Vista".
For completeness, here's a link to the A03 version of the firmware which didn't work for me. Maybe it's worth trying first?
I couldn't see any release notes, so I can't comment on what it is in the new firmware that helps read the ultra cards. Who cares?, it works!
Hope this helps anyone else who runs into the same issue.

Dell users can try the Media Direct update on their computers. Some SDHC cards are reported to work fine after an update:
Also, you can try the WinXP SDHC compatibility update:
