I had the similar problem. I tried downloading Sansa Media Converter and Sansa Firmware updater from Sandisk website. I did installed my machine (Windows XP SP2) and now it is detecting the device (e250). For uploading videos you need run the media converted application to convert the videos from .WMV to e250 format. For mp3 songs you could directly copy files to the song directory in the device. For downloading the software use the below link.
I guess when you install the software it installs required driver software on to the machine. Let me know if this helps

my sansa e250 is not turning on, but when connected to pc it shows connected and the battery is also full the pc also reads the device, I have tried resetting and formatting it, but still it does not turn on !
It just does not turn on when it is disconnected from the pc!
I also tried firmware update but the sansa updater shows update only 1.02.165 whereas my device is of version 1.02.18A.
what should I do? pls help!
