Sansa E280 v2 compatible w/16GB microSDHC?

Hello everyone,

Like the title says, I'd like to know if anyone knows or has confirmed the compatibility of the new 16GB microSDHC card(s) with the Sansa E280 v2. Thanks.

The v2 is specified as compliant with the µSDHC standard, meaning that it should work just fine...as soon as the big capacity cards are available.

But certainly they are compatible with 8 gig SDHC cards that are out now.

At least that's what I've heard here; I'm about to find out.

About a month later ...

Are we sure that if a player supports microSDHC, it supports ANY capacity?

The C200 supports microSDHC (at least, according to SanDisk), but people are reporting that it can't handle a card with a larger capacity than 4 GB.

Just shooting from the hip here, but the issue with the c200 *might* be not a lack of support for accessing >4GB, but in the indexing of the files.  It might not have enough internal RAM (not internal flash drive capacity, internal RAM) to enable it to build a large enough database to handle all the files.

There is an issue with the e200v2 firmware not being able to index an unlimited number of files into its database.  One can run into that limit with the 8GB cards.  If you're creative (I actually did this) you can create a bunch of really tiny mp3 files and give each one a slightly different set of id3 tags and run up against the limitation on a 4GB machine even without a µSD card inserted, might even be doable with a 2GB model without a card.  I can imagine an 8GB model with the 16GB card will run into the database size limitation using normally-sized mp3 and wma files (3MB to 4MB each).

How much media did you have on the card, in GB and in number of files?

Thanks.

FYI: It is recognised with full capacity (15xxx) MB in Settings/Info.

[ Edited ]

People with other Sansa models have found that the firmware can't see the entire contents of cards above a certain capacity.  See post from me and "The Markster", above.

So it's not important unless you want to fill up the whole card.  Smiley Wink  Though it might be an issue with the number of files, and not how much of the card you've used.
