I suggest getting an ipod if you want to use itunes!
Just google it, im sure youll get some links. the easiest solution; download them "illegally" from somewhere else. (bitlord, limewire, etc.)

If you had asked google ("convert itunes to mp3" ), the very first return -- http://askbobrankin.com/convert_itunes_to_mp3_format.html -- tells you how to do this within the itunes program.

Is this the right room for an argument?

do a google search for music converter
dBpoweramp Music Converter is the one I use. (downlod codec for mp4a at the dBpoweramp web site).
you need one that will convert .mp4a files (itunes)
It will do one at a time or many at a time.

As others have pointed out, the iTunes software can do this for you, read the manual. The only problem I have with it is that, when you choose songs to convert, it doesn't ask you where you want the converted ones to be saved, so they are saved in your music library. Then you have duplicates of songs (mp4 and your other format) in the same place.

Edit/Preferences/Advanced/General lets you change the location of the iTunes Music Folder. You could always change it to something else for converted files, then change it back to your regular library.

Rather than give iTunes any more money, I now buy my MP3 downloads from Amazon.com, where they are DRM-free.
Go to http://www.amazon.com/ and find "MP3 downloads" under "Digital downloads".
