'true' capacity of 16gb view

i was just reading about another player that, regardless of disk capacity, had a cap of a certain number of files.  does the view have this issue?

I don't think there's any cap on file numbers. I filled my 16GB Niew with MP3 files which are typically 3MB to 5MB in size. And with a 32GB View about to arrive, Sandisk should have set any limit very high.

Re: 'true' capacity of 16gb view

For what it's worth, I think the 16 GB version had 15.3 GB of actual space available. I can't remember what the 8 GB had.

Also, since it is flash memory, I believe there is supposed to be a finite number of rewrites the memory can handle. That's like in the millions or something, but it's not like a physical hard drive with platters and stuff. I think there was a thread on that already. I will link to it if I find it. Maybe that is what that was about.
