Any Video Converter. Some work, some don't

I have been having big issues with Sansa's media conver.  Mainly the fact that every video it converts leaves audio out of sync with the video.

I have been using Any Video Converter, and the videos it makes are great when they actually work.  Some videos work just fine, and others which I have converted with identical parameters won't.  Does anyone else use this application for their videos?  If so has anyone else had this same problem?  I don't understand what the issue is.  If you were to convert two videos with identical parameters you would think that if one works, the other would, too.
