Slotmonsta, the replay gain bug is not only issue with the latest firmware.
And could you please ask the developers why it is so difficult to add an extra icon to folder browsing on the initial screen - they have managed to add a SlotRadio icon after all, why not a folder icon?
And the real bookmarks… I doubt it is rocket science.
I don’t envy Sansa. Nigh impossible to please everyone.
You’ve got that right! What I want from a Sansa could be completely different from the next guy’s wishes…so it’s all about finding the right compromise, which is pretty darned difficult.
I’ve been trying to get back to .026A for 1/2 an hour. My Fuze is in MSC…I downloaded, extracted the .bin file. I put it on the root of the Fuze. Disconnected it…no firmware update.
What am I missing? I presume the ‘root’ does mean the bottom of the Fuze directory tree? Or…something else?
Are you trying the install the correct firmware for your version of player (1 or 2)?
Re: ‘Are you trying the install the correct firmware for your version of player (1 or 2)?’
Since you asked…
That was my error. I had the wrong version on my Fuze, so it ignored the update. The .bin that is extracted from the zip isn’t indicative of what family it belongs to (1 or 2). The two are certainly DIFFERENT, but if you don’t know how they’re different, the name of the .bin might not click on the ‘This is WRONG’ button in your head.
It didn’t in mine.
It was my error, plain and simple. I got in too big a hurry to read and comprehend which left my Fuze in a state I also did not comprehend.
Just wondering, would it be possible for Sandisk to put an option to set a clock as the screensaver, not just the backlight turning off in a future update?

I would find that very handy.
I love my Sansas, but one thing I find troubling about Sansas is the hold switch backlight operation. I prefer, especially for maximum battery life, the backlight nor wheel light to function at all while the hold switch is engaged. The Sansas don’t do that. Just a small brush of the wheel, especially the much freer moving Fuze wheel, turns on the backlight and wheel light.
Fortunately I have a v1 Fuze and was able to install Rockbox. RB keeps all lights off while the hold switch is engaged. Same goes for the other two Sansas I have RB installed on, an e250v1 and e280v2. RB also allows control of the wheel light functionality while hold is off. It can be set to a timer or turned off completely.
I have Rockbox installed on my Fuze V1 (8GB + 8GB microsd). It does allow the flexibility you want, but I find that the battery life with Rockbox is half that of using the Sansa OS.
It would seem that the Sansa team code is much more efficient.
If the wheel and backlight features were added as you have indicated, it would be that much better.
Since Rockbox has the dual booting feature, I use both OSs, dependent on what I am doing.
I went to dowload the firmware update about three days ago. I had V01.02.? I did not have slot radio. I did not know the firmware update would run automatically. So while it was running, I was changing between MSC and the other mode, and Rhapsody was running. I assumed, mistakenly, that I would apply the firmware update manually after it downloaded.
It started acting strange, losing playlists on the external hdsd card. I have 4 gig Fuze with 4 gig hdsd. Anyway, it locked up. I reset it after disconnecting from usb. I had the RED radioslot icon. I didnt want it, but saw it.
I tried to return to V01.02.026 according to the instructions at the beginning of this thread. Now it reads my unit as V01.02.28 however, the red radioslot icon is gone. how is that possible? I thought they went together. When I say I have V01.02.28F, i see it when the updater reads it, as well as when I access the INFO on the fuze manually.
Can I manually set this thing all the way back to a much earlier firmware version? I am getting all sorts of transfer issues I never had before. I continue to lose playlists on the EXTERNAL card. I want them on that one since I use the record quite often and want that 4 gig clear.
I think I wanna go back to V01.02.22. Can I?
DUH. I changed language back to USA and the red slot radio is back. I still wanna go back so that the V01.02.28 will apply correctly on its own!

I dont know if this has been mentioned yet (didnt read the whole thread). But one thing I found very noticable is that the menus load and switch MUCH faster. There is virtually no delay now.
So yeah, while the patch doesnt have a lot of stuff I wanted, it did fix one thing I found mildly annoying. All of the menus are much faster now.
Go to the Manual Firmware update sticky. Copy the link to the firmware and change 1.02.28 to the number of the previous version, like 1.02.22 (or 1.02.22a) to see if it’s still on the SanDisk server. Many of them are.
