Open-sourcing the Fuze's firmware

We already have a open source firmware. Making the fuze’s original firmware open source would bring us no benefit. The only technical “advantages” inside the original firmware against rockbox is:

  • its capability to play a more advanced video format -> which is used in a “less advanced” way, see bitrate

  • the DRM capability -> this would be excluded from the open source version anyway

  • MTP file transfer mode -> which is not used in its full potential, which would be the ability to transfer files while the fuze is playing music. Also this would maybe be excluded as well, because of copyright/patent issues

All the other stuff can be done with rockbox, and in many respects even much more. The only problem with rockbox is, that they are still not done porting to the current sansas. The main problem left there seems to have something todo with the RAM initialization and caching.
