I think it might be related to how your music is organized on your Fuze. I have always organized my music on my Fuzes by folders and have no or very little delay in changing tracks. Albums generally do not have fifty songs.
Please try the following. Create twenty-five folders each with ten songs on your Fuze, but make sure there is no other music on your Fuze. Are you then still getting this delay?
