Is it worth to replace the Fuze stock ear phones with expensive ones?

I’m planning to get the Fuze in the next couple weeks and was wondering if it was worth to replace the stock earphones that come with the Fuze?

I would like to use the Fuze for jogging on the treadmill, and I listen to hip-hop, trance, techno

If it’s worth replacing, what are some good earphones?  My price range would be < $50

I’ve replaced them before I had the fuze, I prefer the Sennheiser PMX 200, it is expensive, but it doesn’t leak any sound and it sounds better than all other headphones.

The stock headphones from a sony walkman are (in my case) better than the stock ones from the fuze. (whitch I find a bit weak in sound quality, and fitting)

In your case, I would try to find a skullcandy or maybe a Sennheiser PMX 60 (whitch I’ve used a long time) Or, (I live in Holland

and therefore I don’t know any $ prices) maybe an PMX 100/200 from an internet shop?

Absolutely, YES!

I personally go for the High-Quality Sony In-Ear Buds that go for about $40.00 USD.

They are the model with the widest frequency response.

Sorry, I don’t remember the model number off the top of my head.

Ultimate Ears are another high-quality option more akin to the high-end Bose type.

I replaced the stock earbuds with the sennheiser cx300 in-ear buds for 30€. They sound great to me, much better thant the stock ones.

Yes! V-moda Vibes are nice. But most mid-price (and up) in-ears would be an improvement… IMHO

Yes I like the Sony’s also!  tmarkoski, X2 ! I believe the Sony Model # is MDR-EX55LP sold in Walmart for $39.99 and well worth the little money…  Sony does not list them on there web site for some reason. The wife has a pair also and also loves them…

Frequency Response---- 6-23,000Hz

Sensitivity--------------100 db/mw

Almost any upgrade will be worth it, expensive or not.  In the budget range, the JVC Air Cushions are extremely good for the money (around $30) and are a major upgrade over the stock buds.

Oh yes!  The stock ones really really sound baaad.   Happy with my Sennheiser CX-300 earbuds, HD-202 as well (although I get this constant tik-tik sound (this has been covered in other threads as well) with them if the plug is pushed too far, but I can work around this).

I don’t know why MP3 player companies even bother to include junk earbuds with their products, but nearly all of them do. Its like buying a performance car with tiny wheels.

I have two that get the most use - Sennheiser PX-100 and Sony MDR-EX51.

The Sennheiser is a small set of headphones, and I think those provide much better sound (for the price) than tiny earbuds. It does let in some outside noise. The PX-200 model is similar, but more enclosed. The Sony is an in-ear bud (you push it down into your ear canal) that blocks a lot of outside noise, and that is useful in noisy places like airplanes and in the city.

Pretty much all of the very high-quality earbuds are in-ear (which is why I went with headphones). Some people use in-ear buds exclusively, but I don’t like being that cut off from the world around me; I nearly missed a flight one time because I was wearing those (they changed the gate and I couldn’t hear the announcement)!

The upside of using stock earbuds is that you don’t have to encode your music at good quality, because everything is going to sound bad anyway!

Earbuds have to be included for the “Out of box”  experience.  No fun getting a gift that you cant try right away.

I researched and came up with these 2 options:

or

What do you guys think is better?

I bought V-Moda and have thrown them out.

Boom bass distortion galore!

I deem

Panasonic-RP-HJE300

an extraordinary value.

It depends…I can’t wear the “in-ear” phones, and regular buds like the stock one fall out, but for, at Radio Shack, the Koss KSC-75’s were $5.47…and they sound fabulous! They are the clip-on, on-ear variety, and have well balanced sound, but they are not an “isolating” earphone. They’re typically $15-20 at places like Amazon(they were on clearance at the Shack) I liked them so much I went to a different store to find a back-up pair:smileyvery-happy:

If you decide to go for the Sennheiser CX-300s, then be really careful if getting them through eBay or Amazon Marketplace. There are simply loads of fakes out there, more than the genuine article. They look every bit as good as the real thing and some people will say they sound good, too, mainly because they haven’t experienced in-ear phones before. But they won’t be the same quality in either materials nor sound.

There are other fake phones around - Sony, Bose, Shure etc (http://fakeheadphones.com/)

Better to be safe than sorry and pay a little extra to an authorised dealer to get the real thing .

Oddly enough, someone on anythingbutipod forums made a comparative review of the sennheiser CX 300 and v-moda bass freq.

http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35322

After reading that review, another one in the same section of the forum and this one from headroom, I chose the cx300 (however it was also because it was much easier to find them in France).

What about the Creative EP-630 and the Sennheiser CX300?

I am sorry to say that I cannot recommend the Sennheiser CX300. The sound may be above average, but after you have plugged them into your ears you hear your own breath and in addition moving the cable produces deep bumps in sound.

That’s the downside for using any in-ear-monitors, and is not specific to the CX300. It means they isolate quite well from outside noise.

And you are going to har tips or pulls on the cables going into the earbuds… no way around that…  george

Actually I think the cheap buds that come with the Fuze are really great for what they are.  They appear to have good frequency response and decent separation of segments of the music program; I’m farily happy with them.  Even with classical music.  The only complaint is the foam “shower caps” that fall off.  I like having the bud in the outer portion of the ear.  I can adjust them for a “tight” fit and more isolation or a looser fit and hear more of the outside world.  MSOT of the time I need to hear some of the outside world ( my crying baby, the car about to hit me in the crosswalk, the boss walking across the office, the announcement on the PA that the office meeting is going to start, the phone ringing…)  Aside from being on a plane or subway I can’t envision using an in-ear bud.
