Personally, I have a huge music collection, all of which was tagged immaculately before I ever had an mp3 player. I’m very particular about the way I organize my music, though, and I can’t organize it the way I want with tags alone. I like to change my music often - adding, deleting, and shuffling files from folder to folder on almost a daily basis. My old player had the ability to navigate by folder/filename and then view the id-tag info on the ‘now playing’ screen, which was ideal for me. I could view my files on the player the same way I did on my computer. That’s why I would like folder navigation.
However, unlike some people, I was aware of the lack of folder navigation before I bought the Fuze and still chose to buy one anyway because it was a good value. I was very pleased when I heard that folder navigation was on Sandisk’s to-do list. Giving their customers choices and flexibility will put their player above the other “our way or the highway” brands.
