After reformatting your Clip as Bluescreen mentioned, download the Sansa Firmware Updater, install it, and plug in your Clip:

It will install the latest firmware. Then try syncing/copying music to the Clip again. If it doesn’t work, let us know, but this time tell us exactly what happens.
