You don’t need the firmware updater anyways. The instructions for a manual firmware install are on the first page of that thread 
I got the same error message. Although I can manage with updating the firmware manually, but how can install the Media Converter?

clip does not need the media converter. it does not use pictures or video so no media converter needed
