Sansa Clip+ Not turning on or being recognized when plugged into computer

I have tried resetting the player and have also tried booting it into Forced MSC mode.  When it tries to boot into forced MSC mode, Windows says “Installing Device software”, a few seconds later it says “Device driver was not sucessfully installed”,and if I click on the balloon it says “Unknown Device”, a red X and than “failed”.  This is on Windows 7 and with different USB ports.

EDIT: When the device is plugged in, sometimes it says “USB Device not recognized” and sometimes it says I need to format it, and other times nothing happenes.

In this board in the past week, there was a similar situation reported.  You might check the suggestions there.  Did you read it/try the suggestions out?  It is just a few posts below yours . . . .
