Problem with ID3 tags 2.3 with Unicode

Hello,

all my MP3s are tagged in ID3 Version 2.3 using Unicode encoding. It seems the player can’t read this because it only shows empty lines in the lists. Is this a known bug?

And there is a second problem with MP3 files with prefix name “Helga Glaesener - Die Rechenkünstlerin”. The player only shows “| [” or some similar characters in the list, even for directory and file names. I think it’s a Unicode problem too and not an umlauts problem; I am using umlauts in other files as well and all is correct.

I don’t have this problem if I copy all files per MTP but this leads to my other question:

Thank you for answers and help

I tested it with version 2.4 tags but it’s the same.

But the problem exists only in the list, in track information all informations are correct.

Sansa players work best with ID3v2.3 ISO 8859-1. Some models support 2.4, but 2.3 is still best.

Why doesn’t it work well with unicode?

I don’t know the technical details, I just know it prefers ISO.
