And you’re sure it wasn’t on at night, right?
You may be having a battery discharge issue. Are you still within the original warranty period, for a replacement by SanDisk?
You also could try resetting the Clip (holding the power button uppermost for 15-20 seconds) and reapplying the firmware (see the firmware sticky thread at the top of the forum)–the firmware could have become corrupted.
