Few Q's before buying

Hello everybody,

I am thinking of buying a Sansa Clip+, because of the ability to make use of SD-Cards.

I want to buy a 32GB card.

Can and may I use a card of another manufacture or do I have to use Sandisk?

Which class (of the card) should I use to buy?

I read about rockbox. What’s so special on this firmware for the player?

What can it do better or more than the original firmware?

Thanks for helping me out in advance.

Best regards

Yes, it shouldn’t matter. Personally I only use Sandisk cards, but I know of many others who use different brands.

I wouldn’t waste my money on anything more than a Class 4. Some people have reported problems using a Class 10. When you consider this Class or speed rating is only on the “writing” speed to the card, and not the "reading’ from it, faster cards will only shorten the time it takes to load the card; it has nothing to do with the playing of the files on it. I have many that are only class 2, and they work just fine.

Any card should work, just make sure you its not a fake (like a lot of the ones on ebay are). Rockbox is an alternative firmware for various mp3 players. The main advantages in your situation would be better battery life and the ability to work around limitations in the number of files the sandisk firmware supports.
