Clip+ randomly shuts off

I have a Clip+ that I bought between Christmas and New Year’s, and lately it’s been shutting off randomly while scrolling through menus or listening to music. It happens mostly when I am pressing a button, but it will also occassionally shut off during music play without a button being pressed. I have tried formatting and upgrading the firmware, but so far no luck. Is there a fix for this, or should I look into a replacement?

Contact SanDisk Tech Support for a possible RMA (Returned Merchandise Authorization). Sounds like an intermittent hardware-related problem.

Hint: It’s better to call rather than e-mail.

I have much the same problem with a Clip+ I bought 3 weeks ago. It will sometimes shut down and then reboot as I scroll through menus.  Sometimes it will simply crash with a partly scrolled screen.

I’d be interested to know if a replacement works for you. It sounds more like a firmware issue to me.

This issue is not a perennial issue for people–it is a particular player issue.  I’d try a reset, a reapplication of the latest firmware (see the firmaware upgrade sticky thread above), and/or a reformat.  If the issues remains, get an exchange player either at the original store or from SanDisk Customer Service.  In the U.S.:  1-866-SANDISK (726-3475).  And other SanDisk contact information:  http://www.sandisk.com/sandisk-support/contact-us.
