I doubt SanDisk will add the MicroSD card capability. Yah, it would be nice, but I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting. 
The good news is you can get up to a 8 GB Clip these days. I think Walmart still carries it for under $70. or so.
…and I’ve heard talk of a possible 16 GB model.
