i have iOS 12 and my iXpand works no problem so the issue is not likely related to iOS 12 itself. I would suggest to make sure you have the latest version of iXpand drive app. Then I would try power cycling the phone. if the ixpand still is not working test with some other iOS device to rule out any possible hardware issue with the iXpand and if it works on other iOS devices then I would try factory resetting the phone.
