Answer is: largely no. I’ve tried plugging it into an Apple USB-C to Type-A adapter and it mounts as photo storage only. There must be something in the way that Lightning devices ID themselves (other than UUID). Sadly, I think we’re stuck waiting for iOS13. And then, if everyone’s expectations pay off, we can use any thumb drive we want:)
