SanDisk Ultra II 480 died...Options
10-09-2016 06:52 PM Anyone else here have this problem? Came home one day and it was just dead. As in, dead as dirt. Can't see it in my bios. Or another pc's bios. I even put it in my dock. Nada. RMA is in process. Re: SanDisk Ultra II 480 died...Options
10-17-2016 11:30 AM Was just looking at reviews at Newegg. LOTS of dead or DOA units. My RMA drive arrives today. I think it will go on eBay. Re: SanDisk Ultra II 480 died...Options
10-24-2016 01:59 PM Welcome to the the club. I bought a 960gb, and a 480gb last year. Both failed! SD was great with the rma process, but I will NEVER purchase a SD SSD again. WAY too many failures. Re: SanDisk Ultra II 480 died...Options
11-23-2016 11:04 AM My 480 Ultra II died 4 months after install. I have to go to BB to get a receipt printed to do RMA. I have owned many drives, this was my first SD. I thought since the USB drives are so robust they had to know what they were doing. Nope- Back to SAMSUNG for me. What a pain in the neck, and Web search finds this a common issue where drives fail with no notice. Re: SanDisk Ultra II 480 died...Options
12-04-2016 03:20 AM SSD Ultra II 960gb just died on me. I have two of these and have checked them on an external usb to sata on another laptop. The second one is fine and becomes visible in Dashboard and I can access the files. The first one that has my windows operating system and most of my files on it is dead and does not show up anywhere. In the original laptop it worked fine since April 16, but just switched on laptop and then nothing and it's gone.
I assume it is the end of the story for recovering the files from it because it is no longer visible to a pc. Re: SanDisk Ultra II 480 died...Options

My 480 died less than an year. Suddenly laptop didn't boot up and I took out the SSD and put into the other laptop with Sata/USB but not detected at all. I put the original HDD into the laptop that I used with SSD, it works okay. so I guess the SSD might be damaged by surge or something. Since USB port doesn't detect the SSD with Sata, I guess controller block got damaged, rather than flash areas. so I hope I can get the data recovered.

04-02-2017 09:26 AM Add one more casualty to list. Ultra II 480GB. Worked for about 6 months. Started getting write errors for about 1 month then just dead, not detectable in BIOS. Re: SanDisk Ultra II 480 died...Options
07-11-2017 07:24 AM Tthe same here: SD Ultra II 480 GB bought on 27.11.2015 from Amazon worked flawlesly untill yesterday.
Now it is not even recognized in BIOS.
Any solutions out there?
Also after registering it I see it is in warranty - any idea how to exchange it if I am not located in the US (SSD was bought in US from US Amazon.com) Re: SanDisk Ultra II 480 died...Options
07-12-2017 09:29 AM If it is not detected in the BIOS it will need to be replaced. You will need to contact sandisk support to get an RMA. you can put in an online RMA request. return process may be different depending on what country you are in.
