What exactly you try to remove from the drive? if the ssd is the C system drive then you will not able to remove the system partitions, only the ones that you have created extra on it. But still in that case you will have to do it the boot up so before you boot up the system because you cannot format parts of the drive if you are using it.
If the system is a secondary drive you can simply not use the drive and delete the extra partitions you have on it.
