it could also be that an update got installed on the browser that makes it to crash all the time, i had the same with firefox, after an update it crashed all the time and was freezing but it was not related to the SSD or HDD that i was using at the time.
so you can try to see if any other software freezes to check if it is drive related
Ssd doesn’t play a important role in chrome. Because every process is performed using ram explained here. Ram is way more faster then the ssd and it help in stabilizing the process. Ssd is only used for storing data not for process. So this issue is not related to your ssd. You can try clearing local data or try updating or any other version of chrome.
