SanDisk ImageMate All-in-One USB 3.0 Reader / Writer Broken?

I recently bought a SanDisk ImageMate All-in-One USB 3.0 Reader / Writer.

It can’t read my SD card. My SD card is a SanDisk ExtremePro 32 GB SDHC Class 10.

I put it in, tried both sides. On my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, it will take a long time to read and says it must be formatted. If I tried to format it using FAT or exFAT, it will failed and said format didn’t complete.

I put in my CF card, and there is no issue.

What is wrong?

I don’t think there is anything wrong my SD card because if I put it in my D800E camera, connect my camera to my PC, it will read without problem.

I tried another SD card, this time a Transcend SDHC Class 4 and again same problem.

Is it a hardware issue? Or a driver issue?

Try this firmware upgrade: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12483 and see if it makes any difference. It’s designed to fix a problem with Windows 8 though. My reader worked OK with Win 7 64 bit so you might have a problem with yours.

I have similar problems and have installed the firmware update with no effect. Is there a driver fix perhaps?
