How to boot with SD in imagemate 12-in card reader?

The imagemate 12 in 1 card reader is connected to a IBM T42 notebook.

A bootable SD card is inserted.

However, the T42 can’t boot from the SD card.

The bootable SD card was tested with another card reader without any problem.

Another  bootable CF card  was inserted in the imagemate and boot susccessfully.

So the problem clearly to be that the imagemate can only boot from CF slot.

Is there any firmware update that can make imagemate boot from the slot with card in it?
