eMMC card Broken or Damaged?

Hello,

I have ultra Sandisk Memory Card 8 GB .When I am trying to format it under linux -Ubuntu using DIsk Utility I am getting the  error.

=> Are you sure you want to format the drive?

This operation concerns the drive “7.9 GB SecureeDigital/SecureDigital Drive”(SL08G)

=> Error formattig drive

An error occurred while performing an operation on “7.9 GB SecureeDigital/SecureDigital Drive” (SL08G):The operation failed.

Detals :

Error Creating partition Table:helper exited with exit code 1:Error calling fsync(2) ob /dev/mmcblk0:input/output error

I am not sure If I have damged it or what?

Also when I try to run the below command :

export DISK=/dev/mmcblk0

sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=${DISK} bs=1M count=20

I get this error :

Checking that no-one is using this disk right now …

If you created or changed a DOS partition, /dev/foo7, say, then use dd(1) to zero the first 512 bytes:  dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/foo7 bs=512 count=1 (See fdisk(8).)

lsblk gives this :

lsblk shows :

NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT sda 8:0 0 298.1G 0 disk ├─sda1 8:1 0 290.2G 0 part / ├─sda2 8:2 0 1K 0 part └─sda5 8:5 0 8G 0 part [SWAP] sdb 8:16 1 499.4M 0 disk └─sdb1 8:17 1 498.4M 0 part sr0 11:0 1 1024M 0 rom mmcblk0 179:0 0 7.4G 0 di

PLease assit me in resolving this. What I have done wrong .Have I deleted any partition? How can I restore my card back.I dotn care about the data right now, I just want my emmc in original condition.

if formatting failed the card is probably bad. If it is under warranty contact sandisk support for replacement.

But The formattign under Windows works fine.

OK finally i got this thing resolved,What a stupid I was.I was using the san disk emmc with the Kingston MMC adpapter. Was not knowing that they are in-compatible across all the emmc.
