Extreme firewire reader does NOT work with 6 pin firewire port

I am sorry to report this - but the reader simply does NOT work with the supplied 400-800 cable with my iMac. it DOES work with the 800-800 cable. I have tried two different 400-800 cables. This is a real problem for me since i intend to use this unit with my audio recorder that has only a 400 port.

There are other users who report that it does work. So maybe my unit is malfunctioning OR has Sandisk made any changes to the firmware?

As OS X reports this card reader:

 Unit Software Version: 0x10483

  Unit Spec ID: 0x609E

  Firmware Revision: 0x111

  Product Revision Level: CF R

SANDISK - PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS!

Re: Extreme firewire reader does NOT work with 6 pin firewire port

DOES NOT WORK WITH SUPPLIED 400-800 CABLE BUT WORKS WITH 800-800 CABLE ONLY.

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS TAKEN

1. tried four different computers - IMac, MacPro, two PCs
2. tried four different OS - OS X Snow Leopard, OS X Leopard, XP, WIN7 and also Vista
3. tried two different 400-800 cables. I have one from LACIE which i tried, but no go.
4. tried VARIOUS media - SDHC in CF adapter, CF card, also a brand new 8GB Extreme CF Card from Sandisk.

No go with this 400-800 cable.
