Re: Vista drivers

There are no drivers, they are built in to Vista.

If you keep getting a Found New Hardware wizard, you may want to try this hotfix from Microsoft: KB940199

There is a known issue where Vista will not load the drivers for USB devices.  That hotfix is suppose to fix it.

Re: Vista drivers

Unfortunately, this doesn't solve my problem. I'm still getting this message after Windows (Vista) searches for a driver after I plug in the USB:

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

Microsoft WPD FileSystem Volume Driver

The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."

Re: Vista drivers

give this a try

1) Go to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepositor

2) You will see directories that starts with usbstor.inf

3) Open the latest or recent folder (checking the date and time of modification)

4) Copy all the files inside the folder to c:\Windows\inf

5) Disconnect and reconnect the device.

let us know if it works

Re: Vista drivers

I did what you described, although there were no folders inside the usbstore.inf folder... just 4 files. So, I copied them where you said (they were already in there, but I replaced), disconnected, reconnected... but still the same error message.
