SanDisk is pretty famous for its camera cards and USB thumbdrives - but how long have they been doing enterprise? I haven't really heard about them too much in the enterprise space... Are they a serious contender?

SanDisk has already been offering enterprise solutions for a number of years - both directly and indirectly. So it actually has quite a lot of experience and expertise in the industry even though it does not yet get the same brand recognition as its consumer product lines.
