This appears to be in response to the Conficker virus spreading via network drives and Windows XP systems were not stopping autorun in computers.
Corporate system admins applied a registry edit to stop the Microsoft autorun feature from working. This edit tells Windows that the autorun.inf file does not exist, thus the U3 executable cannot parse the autorun.inf file. This causes the SanDisk U3 Launchpad to application to fail.
