Vista "scan and fix" problem

Hi everybody. Whenever I connect my Cruzer to my notebook running Windows Vista, I'm asked if I want to scan and fix the drive. Can someone tell me why this is happening and how to stop it? I believe it started after I once disconnected the drive without using the OS to turn it off first. Opting to scan and fix did not help. I've read that you can fix the problem by going to the command prompt and typing "chkdsk [drive letter]: /f", but when I did this I got the following error message:

The type of the file system is RAW.

CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.

Re: Vista "scan and fix" problem

this message is displayed if you disconnect a usb mass storage device without safely removing the drive. you will need to make sure and safely remove the drive every time you disconnect it to ensure you do no0t see this message.
