how can i turn off this automatic selection by artsist,genre, etc. i want to have files in the same order that i have created on my computer.

Nope, its the way the player works. There is a thread in the forum suggestion of this site, where you can vouch for this to be implemented.
It seems the larger companies are switching over to this method of organizing files.(I honostly prefer it)
If you update the id3 tag information you shouldnt have a problem working it the wya it is now, just so ya know.
