fw notification

Is there a way how I could get notification/reminders when there is new fw? Could be nice, if there is fixed thread about this issue here that could subscribed…

If you’re talking about the Clip Zip model, a new firmware update (01.01.20) was just released late last week. The way I hear it, this will be the last one for this model so you don’t have to worry about missing (or not knowing when) any fw updates are availble in the future.

As far as the other current models (Clip+, Fuze+) go, they too have reached the end of their life cycles so there won’t be any further updates for them either. The development team is most likely working on SanDisk’s next model release that normally hits the market in August.

But the OP raises a good point: would be nice to have a new firmware mailing list somewhere that one could sign up on, and then SanDisk could shoot out an automatic email with a link when new firmware comes out. It even gives the big S an opp. to do some further marketing . . . . Good idea!

if you have the sansa firmware updater installed it will notify you when a new firmware is avaiable. it is a few days behind the forums usually but it will get the job done.

Ah, but many people do not want to have updaters installed, even if small–they can delay computer start-up and  clog a computer, even if small.  Imagine if every program that one has put an updater on one’s computer–anarchy!   ;)
