e280 8gb micro sd card slot not working for some reason.

My computer and my Sansa e280 8gb mp3 player will not recognize my 4gb Sandisk brand micro sd card. What can I do?

only the version 2 devices can read the microSDHC cards (cards 4GB and above).

make sure you have the right version.

to check, at the lower right side at the back of the player, you will see there the model.  it should be “model: e280v2” and not “model: e280”.

The V2 models with V2 firmware will ONLY read the SD card.

I thought this was the Shaker thread?

Did I take a wrong turn at Zanexville or can the main poster not differenciate the players and forum threads?

A few more questions:Can the firmware be upgraded? What is the largest card the unit is able to read, version 1 and version 2

You can upgrade your firmware using the Sansa Updater on the Sansa website.  Simply connect your player and click on the updater and if there is firmware it will update it.  the V2 updates start with 3.  To see what you have on your player go to settings    info and it will tell you.  Good Luck

p.s. after the update you can use up to a 16gb card…
