Zip mounts as 0123-4567 as 7.9 GB Filesystem after reformat

I did a reformat on my new sansa as I thought that was the quickest and safest way to clean it out before starting using it.

Now it appears (in Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS) as a 7.9 GB Filesystem and mounts at /media/0123-4567. It used to mount at /media/SANSA CLIPZ and display as SANSA CLIPZ.

I have an old Sansa Clip + that still displays as SANSA CLIPP and mounts at /media/SANSA CLIPP, after reformat.

After googling around I used “sudo mlabel -i /dev/sdd -s ::” to see what the label was: “Volume label is SANSA CLIPZ”.

So the label is correct, but it shows incorrectly and is mounted in a different place. Anyone know how I could fix this?

How did you format it? The best way is to use the Format option in the Settings menu on the player itself.

Then make sure it is set to MSC in the USB Mode for use with Linux.

Formatted it using the Format option in the Settings menu and have double checked that it is set to MSC in the USB mode.

The player works fine and syncs fine with Gpodder, but the naming is just strange.
