Random shutoffs

I have a Sansa m230, out of warranty as of April 2007.

I’ve already gotten it RMA-ed once.

I let my brother borrow it and for some reason I took it back and now it randomly shuts itself off.

I’ve changed its battery, still it does so.

is this something remediable by a setting?

I am NOT willing to spend seventy-something dollars to get a new one.

So, help?

When you connect it to your computer, is it recognized? Can you access it with Explorer?

Yep.

I can transfer music on and off of it.

it just seems to act funny now.

When i set power off to 5 minutes

it literally shuts off in 5 minutes,

listening to music or not.

My son is having a similar problem with his m240.  We have not found a solution, yet.

I used to have the same problem, but it stopped after I put in fresh batteries :stuck_out_tongue: I think it just needs a lot of power to run… But about the power off in 5 minutes part - it’s actually supposed to do that, even if you are listening to music at the time. I used to set it to 20 minutes or something and fall asleep, and it would turn off automatically :D. Did you try changing the sleep setting? That way, if the music stops, the MP3 Player will turn off after whichever time you set, so the batteries aren’t wasted.

huh.  crazy.
thanks guys
