It might not help, but at this point you have nothing to lose . . . try removing the battery for a minute or two. Remove the 4 small screws (don’t lose them) on the back and the back plate, then lift the battery out.
Now see if it will connect in Recovery Mode (you’ve got the HOLD switch ON, right?)
