Fuze+ ID3 Problems

Hi, I’m new on this forum and wanted to just share some useful info I have discovered re solving ID3 Tag related problems on the Sansa Fuze+. I found this had been causing me a lot of trouble and headaches, eg with multiple entries for a single artist, and some albums not being recognised at all.

What I have found seems to help greatly is to use the Foobar2000 app to select the folder of the required album, and then select all tracks and then :-

right-click -> Tagging -> MP3 Tag Types -> clear ID3v2 checkbox

It may be the Fuze+ gets confused with some ID3v2 tags - I don’t know, but this seems to cure a lot of the problems, and now my Fuze+ is a lot more usable.

Overall I think the Fuze+ is usable, and decent for the price, though certainly not perfect. The touch screen interface is difficult to navigate. It scrolls vertically very fast - too fast to read, so you cannot scan through all your albums very easily. If it would scroll slower, or have an option to do this, then this would be a very helpful feature.

Edit the tags using MP3Tag. Use ID3v2.3 ISO8859-1 tags.

If an audiobook is a MP3 format file and the genre setting in the ID3 tag information
doesn’t identify it as being an audiobook or podcast file, then your Sansa Fuze+ player
will not be able to differentiate this file from a music file, and so it will put the file under
the “Music” menu.

I use Musicbrainz Picard, tagging with ID3v2.3 ISO8859-1.  The program uses a much better database than MP3Tag et al.  I do use MP3Tag for some custom tag formatting so the %involvedpeople% tag field can be read by Foobar2000, but this is unnecessary for use with the Fuze+ as it only reads the most basic tag fields anyway (which is completely ridiculous, IMO).
