I am aware of the read only issue but unfortunately I no longer have the receipt or packaging to return my micro cruzer 16g. I was wondering if there was a way to reflash the firmware?

no you cannot flash the firmware of the usb flash drive and i would not recommend that because it would void the warranty, but you can contact the sandisk support and see if there is a possibility to return the flash drive without a proof of purchase.
